Tell me a little about yourself.
I’ve been married for twenty-seven years, and I am the mother of three beautiful children. I have two sons; twenty-six-year old Angel and twenty-one-year old Joshua, as well as a thirteen-year old daughter, Zoe. (And my fur baby, Duke.)
I’m a “Glam-Ma”, life coach, blogger, and counselor. I’ve just wrapped up my master’s program as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and I have a pre-existing diploma in working with Marriages and Families.
What was the catalyst that decided your path?
I have been saved for twenty-one years. I saw how the Lord brought healing to my own trauma and thought to myself, “I want to help heal others, too, and inspire their freedom physically, mentally, emotionally, and spirituality.”
What obstacles did you have to overcome to pursue your calling?
Definitely knowing who I am and that I’ve been called to this path, as well as believing in myself, finding my voice, sharing my story with others, and recognizing my gifts; often feeling selfish for not allowing others to hear it to provide them with their own sense of freedom. I also found difficulty in rewriting my personal story, and learning to be truly vulnerable and authentically open my heart to feel deeply again.
In your opinion, what are some of the biggest issues facing women today?
Some of the challenges women are facing today are learning to find their voice, and knowing their identity. In addition to those, women face insecurities and fears on a daily basis. Breaking away from cultural stereotypes in particular as it relates to Latina women. Latina women learning to step away from the status quo.
What scripture(s) have you relied on in your Christian journey that have anchored your faith?
There are two which have helped me in my walk:
Then you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free (John 8:32) NIV
He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave (Psalms 107:20) NIV
What one important life lesson have you learned that you wish you had learned earlier?
For me, it would be to have found my voice sooner. A lesson I wish I would have discovered earlier was knowing my worth.
What tools would you recommend for women who desire to pursue their purpose?
Here are some practical tips I would recommend:
- Don’t allow anyone to tell you can’t.
- Don’t quit!
- Don’t look at things as failures. Everything that you have had to endure is all part of the story and plan for your life.
- Every “NO” pushes you closer to your “YES!”
